The driver, 22-year-old Javon Threat, faces charges of felony flee to elude arrest; resist, delay, and obstruct; and possession of schedule VI. Martin said more charges may be filed.

The chase occurred as Officer D. Harrison was patrolling in the area of Marshall Street and Pine Drive and noticed a vehicle with a registration violation.

Harrison activated his blue lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. The driver turned onto Pine Drive and stopped briefly. A passenger got out of the vehicle.

Threat then accelerated away from the officer and ran through several stop signs at a high rate of speed. Martin said speeds were as high as 80 miles per hour through the residential sections.

Threat went down Virginia Street and through the stop sign at East Seventh where he collided with a home located in the 1100 block.

Threat fled out of the vehicle and ran around the house. Harrison took him into custody.

A search of the vehicle yielded .12 ounces of marijuana, a clear plastic bag containing crushed yellow pills and a lunch box containing drug paraphernalia.

Threat, who on February 3 was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, received a $1,000 bond and February 18 court date.

Sergeant D. Moore and officers H. Baker and C. Hagbourne assisted.
