A Roanoke Rapids man faces an accessory to murder count in the February 17 shooting death of a 19-year-old in Weldon.
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Hall said Tremaine Simmons, 26, was at the scene in the 900 block of Sycamore Street when Ja’eid Watson of Roanoke Rapids was shot and killed. Hall described Simmons and Watson as acquaintances.
Simmons is known to frequent areas of Roanoke Rapids and Weldon.
In February Hall said the shooting occurred as Watson was standing outside in the roadway. Deputies and officers with the Weldon Police Department responded to the scene shortly before 10:30 a.m. and located Watson.
