On Saturday around 11:30 p.m. Sergeant L. Melton and Officer I. Smith responded to Vidant North Hospital about a person who had been shot in a drive-by shooting which occurred near a car wash off Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

The gunshot wound was not life-threatening and the victim, who sustained a wound to the upper thigh, was taken to the hospital by a friend for treatment.

The victim was sitting in a vehicle with other friends when an unknown gunman drove past the location and began shooting, hitting the vehicle that the victim and his friends occupied.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-536-3136 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

Smith recovered some of the items taken from the store.

Scott was transported to the magistrate's office and was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, injury to real property, resist, delay and obstruct, and possession of stolen goods.

After the stop McKimmey talked with the driver — Jerome Terrell Seabreeze, 30, of Seaboard.

McKimmey suspected that Seabreeze was driving under the influence of alcohol when he made his initial approach to the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed open containers and marijuana.
