The Halifax County Health Department is providing two at-home COVID-19 test kits per person per week.

Those wanting to get the at-home tests should go to the health department at 19 North Dobbs Street in Halifax.

Recipients must sign the COVID-19 test kit distribution log with name, address, and telephone number.

Instructions for use are included with the test kits. You do not need to report your results to the health department, but you may call if you have questions concerning your results. Test kits will be distributed at the health department at the front desk from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who need to be tested are anyone that is symptomatic, known contacts of a positive case, or work in a high-risk setting, such as a skilled nursing facility.

Other residents may need to be tested due to workplace requirements.

Residents may also choose to be tested out of concern for their own health and the health of family members, such as caregivers.

The health department is also providing two N95 masks per person per day.
