The Jo Story Senior Center has been recertified as North Carolina Senior Center of Excellence.
“This is the center’s third center of excellence designation, and each certification covers five years, allows for additional grant money to be used on the center and programs, and involves a rigorous process and a lot of hard work,” said Thomas Goble, the center’s supervisor.
According to the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services, Centers of Excellence “provide exemplary services and opportunities to their communities and serve as mentors and models to other centers.”
“The Jo Story Senior Center would like to thank all our staff, volunteers, participants, and supporters for helping us attain this special honor,” Goble said.
Founded in 1978, the Jo Story Senior Center is open to anyone 55 and up, and is located at 701 Jackson Street in Roanoke Rapids.
