Governor Roy Cooper Tuesday announced the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the December shooting death of 39-year-old Derek Antoine Scott. 

On December 30 Scott was shot and killed in his residence located on Highway 46 in Garysburg. 

The suspect or suspects drove by Scott’s house and shot at the house. One of three shots that entered the home struck and killed him.

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said at the time Scott was struck in the upper body and later died from the injuries he sustained.
