In its weekly report Wednesday, the Halifax County Health Department reported 134 new positive cases of COVID-19.

The department has resumed weekly reports due to an increase in cases.

The latest positives bring the total since March of 2020 to 16,825.

Halifax County remains in the orange category, signifying a high level of community spread.

No additional deaths related to the virus were reported. There have been a total of 193 related deaths in the county.

The department reported a slight increase in hospitalizations at ECU North and a decrease in COVID measurements in the wastewater over the last week.
