Tamara Vaughan Gray, a native of Rich Square, recently earned her doctoral degree in educational leadership from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. 

She is the daughter of Ms. Venus M. Spruill of Rich Square and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond R. Vaughan of Jackson. 

Gray is a former founding member and educational leader of Halifax County Early College High School, which began in the Fall of 2019 on the campus of Halifax Community College.

She is a certified exceptional childrens' teacher, school counselor, and school administrator by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Gray graduated from Northampton County High School-East in 1992 and received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from North Carolina Wesleyan College — now university — in 2002. 

She earned her master of science and education specialist degree in school counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2007 and 2011, and an education specialists degree in educational leadership with a concentration in school administration from Liberty University in 2019. 

Gray is employed as a coordinator of disability support services at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh where she resides with her family. 

She also serves as vice president of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges for the Wake Technical Community College campus chapter.
