The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Lieutenant Shane Guyant:

On December 11 while conducting proactive law enforcement duties in the area of Highway 158 in Roanoke Rapids Deputy A. Holt noticed a moped run a stop sign at Dickens Avenue.  

Holt stopped Eric Barber, 54, of Roanoke Rapids for this violation.  

A consent search resulted in the location of cocaine hidden in a metal container which was concealed in a compartment of the vehicle.

Barber was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a stop sign violation.  

He received a $2,500 bond and February 23 court date.

On December 15 while conducting proactive law enforcement duties in the area of Highway 158 and Dickens Road in Roanoke Rapids Deputy G. Martin stopped a Hyundai for speeding.  Martin identified the driver as Tyrone Mills, 45, of Roanoke Rapids.  

Martin learned that Mills’s license was suspended for a 2018 DWI.  

During the traffic stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted and cocaine was located inside. Mills was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, and reckless driving.  

He received a $2,500 bond and December 28 court date.

During the evening hours of December 15 while conducting proactive law enforcement duties in the area of Highway 48 and Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids Detective Sergeant J. Pignanello noticed a Toyota Camry with a damaged headlight and a faulty license plate light.  Upon a routine check of the registration plate, Pignanello learned that the plate showing was to another type of vehicle.  

Pignanello noticed several items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes, on the floorboard of the vehicle.

   

Upon searching the vehicle Pignanello located methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe, digital scales, and other items of drug paraphernalia.  

The driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Russell Currin, 45, of Garysburg, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia

Also charged was passenger Danielle Alex Baker, 29, of Vanceboro. She was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released.

Currin received a $15,000 bond and a December 28 court date.
