Weldon police are investigating the larceny of money in a safe at a business Thursday morning.
Chief Christopher Davis said investigators are not ruling out current or prior employees since the suspect used a key to enter the business located in the 200 block of East Second Street around 5:30 a.m. At the discretion of the police department, the business is not being named.
Corporal H. Cross responded to the business shortly before 6:30 a.m. after receiving the breaking and entering call.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the safe and the suspect left the business heading west toward Third Street.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Cross at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
