The Roanoke Rapids Police Department continues to investigate a shooting which occurred in the roadway of Premier Boulevard early Sunday morning.

Detective Sergeant Morgan Worrell said investigators have determined the shooting, in which a male victim remains in critical condition, was related to a domestic issue.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 2:45 a.m. 

As they headed to the scene officers received a call from ECU North that a male victim had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transferred to another medical facility for treatment.
