Six people have been charged in a shooting at a community center birthday party last month in which a Roanoke Rapids man was fatally shot.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement this evening the arrests have been made “through the collective efforts and investigation procedures conducted by the “(sheriff’s office), Gaston Police Department, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.”

The party occurred the evening of January 25 and resulted in the death of a Roanoke Rapids man, Dexter Robinson, 53. Three others were injured.

As of January 31, Jacobs said in the statement, those arrested include:

Keyshawn Boswell, 22, of Littleton, who was already in-custody on unrelated charges for a probation violation as of January 26.

He was served warrants for one count of felony inciting a riot, one count going armed to the terror of the people, three counts of felony assault on law enforcement officers with a firearm, felony discharge a weapon into occupied property, two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, and possess/sell an alcoholic beverage with no permit.

He received a $100,000 secured bond and his court date is set for February 21.

Jacobs said the assault on a law enforcement officer counts reflect he allegedly shot into their direction.

Kemesha Squire, 29, of Gaston, was served outstanding warrants for one count of felony inciting a riot, one count felony obstruction of justice, and one count felony accessory after the fact.

She received a $100,000 secured bond a February 7 court date.

Donovan Edwards, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, was served outstanding warrants for one count of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and two counts of accessory after the fact to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury.

He received a $290,000 secured bond and February 21 court date.

Jessica Davis, 28, was served an outstanding warrant for possessing/sell alcoholic beverage with no permit and possess/consume fortified wine, liquor, mixed beverages on unauthorized premises.

She received a $1,500 secured bond and February 19 court date.

Tracy Davis, 45, of Gaston, was served an outstanding warrant for possessing/sell alcoholic beverage with no permit.

She received a $1,000 secured bond and February 19 court date.

Richard Squire, 25, of Gaston surrendered to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and was served outstanding warrants for one count of felony discharging a firearm into occupied property, one count of felony inciting a riot, and one count of going armed to the terror of people.

He received a $60,000 secured bond and February 14 court date.

Jacobs said in a previous statement at 11:36 p.m., deputies and Gaston police officers responded to 221 Craig Street to a shots fired and a disturbance call.

Officers on scene cleared the large crowd out of the building when gunshots erupted throughout the crowd of people.

Jacobs said investigation continues and more arrests are expected.

In the statement, Sheriff Jack Smith said “the sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate this situation and we encourage help from the public for help in furthering this investigation. I want to thank all the agencies that helped with the initial investigation and arrests. This is a very unfortunate situation that occurred and our agency takes cases of this magnitude very serious. We will investigate it to the fullest extent.”
