Littleton police continue to investigate the shooting death of a Roanoke Rapids area man which occurred during a DJ night at a Mexican restaurant Sunday morning.

Chief Phillip Trivette said the fatal shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. at San Lucas Mexican Restaurant as an estimated 100 people were on the dance floor.

A person came out of the crowd and shot 32-year-old Quayshawn Rogers. Rogers was pronounced deceased at ECU North in Roanoke Rapids.

A woman who was dancing was shot in the leg. The wound was non-life threatening and she should recover.

Trivette said it was not clear if there was a relationship between Rogers and the woman. He declined to elaborate on the motive.

Thus far police have no description of the suspect and are going through the restaurant’s surveillance system and police body cam video for clues.

In a Facebook post Sunday morning the police department said, “This appears to be a targeted incident and we do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.”
