With Halloween upcoming and the annual Christmas parade set in December, the city is still accepting people who want to host a trunk for the October 31 trunk-or-treat event as well as participants in the parade set for December 3.
Halloween
Anyone who would like to host a trunk is encouraged to contact Tina May at the police department — 252-533-2810 — or Kelly Daughtry at parks and recreation — 252-533-2847 ext 3.
The annual trunk-or-treat event will be held at Fifth and Carolina streets by T.J. Davis from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Christmas parade
The deadline for participating in the Christmas parade is November 17.
If anyone would like to participate in the parade, they can go register at this link, download an application at this link or pick one up at T.J. Davis Recreation Center located at 400 East Sixth Street.
The parade steps off on Roanoke Avenue at 2 p.m. from Fourteenth Street to First Street.
Road closures will be in effect from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
