A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested and charged Thursday in connection with a December 10 shooting at the American Legion building in Littleton.

Captain Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the victim remains in critical condition at a trauma unit after initially being transported to ECU North.

Hall said there was a birthday party at the building and an argument occurred resulting in the shooting of the victim.

Investigation showed that Jeremy “Birdie” East was the prime suspect and warrants were taken out for his arrest on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

East has a January 25 district court date.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
