The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation after Captain Patrick Jacobs said a 25-year-old Weldon man was found on the side of Highway 301 following a shooting call.

Jacobs said deputies responded to the scene in the Garysburg area shortly after 1:15 p.m. today and found a man identified as Eric Kendall, who sustained numerous gunshots to his upper body.

He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from the injuries he sustained.
