An Enfield man faces cocaine trafficking and other related counts following a Friday night fight call at a restaurant near Premier Boulevard.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Shane Guyant said 29-year-old Jamarkus Daquan Brown faces charges of trafficking cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of schedule II, possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine and obstructing justice.

Officers responded to the location and received a report one of the parties had a gun.

Officer C. Walker responded to a report of a vehicle description and observed one that matched.

As Walker followed the vehicle he observed a passenger throwing items from the vehicle.

After stopping the vehicle and detaining its occupants, Officer M. Morris retrieved the tossed items — 106 grams of crack and 34 grams of powdered cocaine.

Guyant said Brown claimed ownership of the drugs and was placed under arrest.

He was jailed on $100,000 bond but Halifax County Detention Center records indicate he is no longer in custody.

He has a January 25 district court date.
