Homegrown Leaders is bringing the foundations of the Rural Center’s flagship Rural Economic Development Institute program to Kinston September 10 through 12.
Homegrown Leaders is a three-day regional leadership and community economic development training that equips existing and emerging leaders with the skills to plan for and lead in addressing long-term and sustainable economic advancement in their community and region.
The training is designed for leaders and emerging leaders across multiple sectors, including:
Healthcare
Education
Government
Nonprofit
Faith-based organizations
Small business leaders and entrepreneurs
Economic development professionals
Other community-minded people
People who live in or work in the shaded counties shown in the gallery map are eligible to apply for this cohort.

Applying is a two-step process. You must apply and if selected, complete registration and payment. Hold the training dates on your calendar so that if you are selected you will be able to attend.
Timeline
August 13, 2024 — Application period closes.
August 16, 2024 — Accepted applicants are notified, and registration opens.
August 25, 2024 — Registration completed ($350 registration fee is due)
