The whiskey

The People’s Choice Award Winner at the 2021 East Coast Craft Spirit Awards, the whiskey has been described as a caramel green apple spirit that tastes like a state fair in your mouth.

It can be drunk on the rocks, in a hot toddy, daiquiri, mimosa, or on top of a dessert.

The peanuts

Situated in Enfield, Aunt Ruby's Peanuts is a family operation with a presence in the local area since 1945. “People who are looking for authentic, jumbo salted peanuts can find traditional Country Style Salted Peanuts in convenient tin cans,” the narrative says.

The peanuts are roasted in natural corn oil and then lightly salted.

The contest

Each fall, the NC Chamber hosts its annual Coolest Thing Made in NC contest — a statewide celebration of North Carolina’s manufacturers that simultaneously educates future workers about the rewarding careers of modern manufacturing.

The winner is announced on Manufacturing Day, a day which is organized nationally by the NAM and The Manufacturing Institute. “It champions the next generation of creators to change perceptions of manufacturing and highlights the exciting careers in manufacturing, with an ultimate goal of closing the widening skills gap. Similarly, it is the NC Chamber’s intention to drive fruitful engagement between North Carolina employers and today’s students.”
