A man wanted in a July 6 armed robbery was arrested and charged Friday afternoon after Roanoke Rapids police detectives received word he was in the city.
Anthony T. Shearin was taken into custody in a parking lot at Third Street near Roanoke Avenue by detectives S. Bryant and A. Salmon along with Lieutenant D. Jenkins, Chief Shane Guyant said.
They had been actively looking for him when they spotted him around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot and blocked his exit as he sat in his vehicle.
He was taken into custody without trouble.

He was found in possession of 1.4 grams of cocaine and two loaded and concealed handguns.
He was charged with felony possession of cocaine and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
He was jailed without the opportunity for bond since he was already on pretrial release due to four pending court dates for a 2021 assault inflicting serious bodily injury count; a 2020 felony conspiracy count; a 2020 armed robbery count; and a 2020 resisting count.
He has a Tuesday district court date.
He had been wanted in an armed robbery that occurred on July 6 along with Chaz Lamar Richardson, who is still being sought.
"Shearin is a dangerous individual and taking him into custody was important,” Guyant said. “We have been actively looking for him for over two months. Getting him off the streets is a win for the good guys today. Now, we have to get Richardson in custody. We hope someone will step up and tell us where he is."
Anyone with information on Richardson is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or through its website
