The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating the larceny of five 43-inch televisions from Walmart on March 4.

Investigator Elliott Johnson said in a statement the larceny occurred around 5 a.m.

In the store the man seen in surveillance camera photos took off his coat and was wearing a yellow reflective vest underneath, apparently portraying himself as Walmart employee. The vest is identical to those worn by Walmart cart pushers.

The suspect was seen by an employee as he loaded five televisions into the shopping cart and rushed out the door while pushing TVs.

The employee who witnessed the theft approached the suspect to stop him.

The shopping cart was recovered with four televisions but the suspect was able to get away with one.

The suspect was seen getting into a silver, older model Ford Taurus with a shattered rear window and no rear bumper.

It was driven by another unknown suspect.
