A Hollister woman is charged with bilking an elderly victim for whom she was a caretaker out of approximately $8,000, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, Jacquelene Richardson, 55, withdrew money from the victim’s bank account by using their debit card at various ATMs in the county, Major Anzell Harris said.

Richardson, who Harris said was also paying her own water and electric bills, did not have permission to use the card, an investigation by Detective B.R. Edmondson showed.

The card was used from April 1 through September 30. Harris said there was video evidence of Richardson using the card at an ATM.

Edmondson obtained warrants on Richardson Monday and served them Tuesday.

She faces two counts of felony financial card fraud, a misdemeanor count of financial card fraud, and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Richardson received a $9,000 bond and December 17 district court date.
