Weldon police continue to investigate a Sunday afternoon shooting which occurred in the 700 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Chief Christopher Davis said the victim had been taken to the hospital when police arrived and was being treated for a wound to the hip. As of this report the victim was in stable condition.

Sergeant H. Cross responded to the shooting, which occurred outside, around 3:30 p.m.

No further information is being released. Davis described the shooting as an isolated crime and there is further threat to the community in that area.
