David Lee Keeter, 79, died peacefully at home with loved ones by his side, in Rocky Mount, NC, Tuesday, June 25, 2019. 

Mr. Keeter was born in Halifax County, August 14, 1939, to the late Robert Lee Keeter and Rachel Elaine Green Hux.  

Mr. Keeter graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1958, where he served as the Drum Major for all four years.  

He spent a short time as a programmer for the University of Virginia, before moving to Maryland.  Mr. Keeter retired from the University of Maryland as the Director of Data Processing after 28 years of service.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keeter was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Jerld Keeter. 

Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Margaret Ann Trask Keeter; brother Willis Hux, numerous nephews and nieces; and a special and close friend Eddie Brown. 

The family will receive friends at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, 731 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC, Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 10-11 a.m. 

A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation in the Chapel with Bishop Bruce Harper officiating and President Franklin Lee Jones presiding. 

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery at 225 Kemp Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made, in honor of David Lee Keeter, to: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 901 Park Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC, 27870.
