Eunice Jenkins Bradley, 89, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina passed away on December 16, 2021. 

She was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina on February 8, 1932 to Eugene Simpson and Ella Dickens Jenkins and was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Calvin “Mack” McNair Bradley and her two infant daughters, Hope and Anna Marie Bradley, her three brothers, Forrest Edward Jenkins, Fontaine Graham Jenkins and Wesley Jenkins and one brother-in-law, Samuel A. Dickens and a nephew, Samuel A. Dickens, Jr. 

Eunice grew up in the Darlington community and still called it her “home.” She enjoyed spending time at the homeplace. 

She graduated from Aurelian Springs High School in 1950. After a few years, filling the need to further her education, she joined the National Secretaries Association. 

That is where she studied to become a certified professional secretary. In 1974 after passing a 12-hour examination administered at Meredith College she was awarded the designation of Certified Professional Secretary.

Upon graduating High School, she was employed by Simmons Company which became J.P. Stevens in the data processing office. Eunice also worked many years for Home Security Life Insurance Company as office administrator, where she retired with twenty-eight years of service. 

Her loving spirit has given her a special place in the hearts of those left to cherish her memories. 

Eunice is survived by her sister, Ella D. Dickens of Alexandria, VA; three nieces, Deborah D. Dannenberg and her husband, Fred of New York City, Candace Clippard and her husband, Mack of Roanoke Rapids, Patty Jenkins, of Charlottesville, VA; and a nephew, Rev. Edward Eugene Jenkins and his wife, Cheryl of Dumfries, VA; a great nephew, Michael Jenkins and his wife, Torrie; great niece, Ashley Carroll and her husband, Daniel and a great-great-Nephew, Christian Jenkins. The nieces and nephews all called her their second mother. 

Eunice was a warm and compassionate person with a kind word and ever ready smile. She lived a life of profound faith and her intercessory prayer life were well known to her friends and family.

Mrs. Bradley was a former member of Rosemary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, held various offices and served on many committees. At the time of her death, she was an active member of Roanoke Baptist Church. 

For years after retiring, her Tuesday afternoons were spent reading the Bible to shut-ins. Several of them enjoyed her reading for over five years. 

As a dedicated Christian diverse of scripture, “Served the Lord with gladness” was a reality to her. 

Funeral Services will be held at Roanoke Baptist Church on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11am with Rev. Rick Rogers and Rev. Edward Eugene Jenkins officiating.

Interment following in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
