​​Ronnie Leon Powell, 65, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

The son of the late Roy Lee and Ida Harris Powell, he was a 1974 graduate of Halifax Academy. He dearly enjoyed the mini class reunions held yearly. He was a dedicated husband, father, and proud papa, and enjoyed yearly reunions with his large family. To know him was to love his sense of humor and teasing ways. He was very proud of his truck driving career with Georgia Pacific and later with Gemini Motor Transport (Love’s). He was a hard worker and took great pride in providing for his family. He also enjoyed fishing with family and good friends. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

He is survived by the love of his life, Cindy Dickens Powell, daughter Jennifer Green and husband, Michael, son Curtis Powell and wife, Anna, two special grandchildren Gracyn and Corey “Buckaroo” Green, loving mother Ida Harris Powell, several aunts and uncles, many special cousins, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, his father-in-law, and many dear friends.

A visitation was held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 12:00pm at Victory Baptist Church, 2360 Bolling Rd. Roanoke Rapids, NC, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm led by Pastor Jeremy Kobernat.

Burial followed at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Victory Christian Academy (In care of Victory Baptist Church) or ALS Association North Carolina Chapter (www.alsnc.org)
