A Roanoke Rapids-area man is wanted by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, Ezra Patterson, 38, is listed as an aggravated recidivist and has a lifetime registration requirement.

On December 10, 2012, he was convicted of a second-degree sex offense in Perquimans County. He was released from prison on January 10, 2017.

On October 24, 2023, he was convicted in Halifax County of soliciting a child by computer to commit an unlawful sexual act.

In June, warrants were obtained by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department for statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child.

HCSO Major Anzell Harris said Patterson’s probation officers have not had any contact with him.

The sheriff's office obtained a warrant in March for failing to register. He has been entered into national criminal databases as a wanted person.

He stands approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 238 pounds.

He has green eyes and frequents areas in Halifax and Perquimans counties.
