Ruby H. Carver

September 10, 1921 – May 1, 2022

Ruby Haynie Carver passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022 at the age of 100.  

A longtime resident of Roanoke Rapids, Mrs. Carver was the wife of the late Roy L. Carver.  She was born in Spindale, NC on September 10, 1921 to the late Malissa Haynie and Rev. F. W. Haynie.  

Rev. Haynie was the pastor of Rosemary Baptist Church where Mrs. Carver was a member for 83 years and until her death was the oldest living member.  

She served as Director of the Sunday School Cradle Roll for 36 years.  

The Annie Allsbrook Circle was truly a circle of friends and was like family with those friendships lasting a lifetime.   

Ruby worked in sales in the mail order store of Sears Roebuck for 19 years, forming lifelong friendships with her co-workers.  

A devoted wife, mother,  grandmother, great grandmother, an aunt to many nieces and nephews, Ruby is survived by daughters and sons in law  Mary Frances and Richard Perkinson, Sarah Louise and William J. Adams III, Barbara Jean and Henry Warren; grandchildren Brian Perkinson (Cathy), Jeff Perkinson (Kathy), Jennifer Walker (Brent), Emily Livingston (Clay), Elizabeth Hamilton (Shannon), Melissa Dougher (John); great grandchildren Katie Perkinson, Matthew Perkinson, Amy Perkinson, Erin Perkinson, Sydney Walker, Will Walker, Anna Kate Livingston, Sarah Livingston, Henry Hamilton, Roy Hamilton, Emily Dougher, Johnny Dougher. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy L Carver, a grandson, William J. Adams IV. 

A service will be held at Rosemary Baptist Church on May 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating. A private family burial at Cedarwood Cemetery prior to the service.  The family will receive in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
