Mildred Shell “Millie” Ogburn, 88, died Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Liberty Commons Nursing home in Weldon.

Millie was born September 26, 1930, to the late James Lee (Jim) Shell and Fannie Coker Shell.  She was preceded in death by her husband James Clifton Ogburn and a son, Kevin Bruce Ogburn, and a granddaughter, Brandi Noel Ogburn and a sister Lula Hudson and brothers George Shell, Thomas Shell, and Raymond Shell.  

Millie was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  

Millie was mother to Keith, Steve, Gary, Dale and Bruce Ogburn.  

She was devoted to her Lord, her husband and her sons her entire life.  

She was happiest doing things for them.  

She loved her Lord with all her heart and tried to teach others to live for Jesus and to have faith in God always.  

Millie was a Bible School teacher at First Christian Church for many years, teaching from nursery, kindergarten, teenage girls and seniors.  

She worked in Leggett’s Department Store for 9 years.

She is survived by her sons, Keith Ogburn and his wife, Connie, of Darlington, Steve Ogburn and his wife, Susan, Gary Ogburn and his wife Kathy, all of Roanoke Rapids, Dale Ogburn of Greenville and Bruce's wife Debbie Ogburn of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Nicole Ogburn Christenbury and her husband, Jamie of Roanoke Rapids, April Ogburn Williams and her husband, Ted, of Apex, Jonathan Ogburn and his wife, Susan of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kevin Ogburn and his wife Ashley of Roanoke Rapids, Justin Ogburn and his wife, Callie of Papillion, Nebraska, Aaron Ogburn and his wife Kim of Raleigh, Shane Ogburn and Mayson Ogburn of Goldsboro, Barbi Cotton of Alexandria, Va., and Lindsey Brown of Roanoke Rapids; seventeen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Diane Schechter; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from  7 to 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, September 24 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, and other times at the home of Gary and Kathy Ogburn, 528 Henry Street., Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25 at First Christian Church, with minister Daniel West officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
