In the early hours of Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 91 Driftwood Lane, Roanoke Rapids, NC, God saw Erik Shane Lassiter (age 31) struggling with drug demons and his body and soul was growing tired and weary.

So God sent his strongest angels to fight off the demons who had broken Erik’s body with cocaine and fentanyl. The angels took Erik by his hands to take his broken spirit to Heaven where he could rest and mend.

Erik was born on July 8, 1988, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He attended Roanoke Rapids schools but quit early in the 9th grade when he began his life of crime which lead him to drugs and the wrong crowd of people.

Even though Erik went through drug rehab several times he would always be drawn back into the life of substance abuse.

After fussing and giving him a severe talking to his father and mother always stood by his side. Erik spent over a year combined time in Halifax County Jail, about seven months in NC prisons and about 4 months in the NC DART programs all because of Drugs.

Erik was not a “pothead” and he would tell you, his drug of choice was Cocaine. But as he became more addicted and needed more it had to be laced with fentanyl.

Erik fought free several times, and when he did he was a person that everyone loved. He had a way of making people like even love him. His smile would win them over especially when his dimples broke out.

It was during one of his cleaner times that he met the love of his life and married her on Oct. 6, 2013, Nicole Deberry.

Erik and Nicole Lassiter added a beautiful baby girl on February 2, 2010, named Norma Jean Lassiter to their family. She was was the apple of Erik’s eyes. Norma Jean won his heart and at times his soul, but his soul could be swayed!

Erik loved working with his hands, most of his jobs were working on cars or mechanics of some types.

The dirtier or greasier the better. Erik earned his GED when he attended TarHeel Challenge Academy and graduated December 9, 2005.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Willie & Emily Britton Lassiter and his maternal grandmother Norma Jean Patteson.

Erik is survived by his beloved father and mother of the home Dennis Keith & Karen Patteson Lassiter, Wife Nicole Deberry Lassiter and Daughter Norma Jean Lassiter or Roanoke Rapids.
