It is with heavy hearts that we announce Marion E. Conner, 96, of Gaston, entered her Heavenly Rest on March 10, 2026.
Marion was born on November 13, 1929, to the late Skelton and Alma Poythress in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.
Marion grew up on a dairy farm and lived on a farm throughout her childhood where she enjoyed climbing trees and eating apples.
Marion met the love of her life, Andrew Clay Conner, when she was 14.

They dated for three years, enjoying movies and visiting family together, and were married on June 7, 1947.
They spent 65 years together raising their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until Andrew’s passing in 2013.
Marion lived a long and meaningful life centered around her faith, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. She was a devoted mother of four who cherished time spent with her loved ones.
Marion especially enjoyed taking trips, attending church, and spending quiet moments working crossword puzzles. Her gentle spirit, steady faith, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Conner; her son, Howard “Bozo” Conner; her sister, Annetta; and her brothers, Louis, Robert Lee, and James.
Marion leaves to cherish her memory her son, David Conner (Lemoine); son, Donald Conner (Dorothy); daughter, Amy Bethany; her daughters-in-law, Phyllis Conner and Michelle Evans; and a loving group of grandchildren, Leslie, April, Shana, and Dennis. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Liam, Gwen, Ian Sparrow, Vivianna, and Austin, and a great-great-grandchild, Brendon, who all brought her much joy.
Marion will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, and the love she shared so freely with her family. Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and devotion to those she held dear. The memories she created and the love she gave will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
