Charles Owen Pearson, “Goot,” 64, of Gaston, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2026, following a brief battle with lung cancer.

Charles was born on May 27, 1964, in Halifax County, North Carolina to the late Eddie Gray and Hazel Linton Pearson.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his one true love, Kimberlyn Denise Bishop; his brother, Atlas Benjamin Pearson; and his sister, Elsie Pearson Conner.

Charles is survived by his children, Shanna Radford (Gene) of Gaston, NC, Myah Odom (Cole) of Wilmington, NC, Codie Lassiter of Gaston, NC, and Kyle Pearson (Tuck) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; five grandchildren, Tristian Hux, Kimmie Bradley, Madison Morris, Gene Radford, II, and Benny Cole; sisters, Darlene Whitby and Vickie Writtenberry; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and many friends. 

The family will receive friends at Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 West 5th St. in Roanoke Rapids, NC, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. 

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 11, at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Gaston with Chaplain Wesley Taylor officiating.
