Annie Stevenson Hyde, 97, passed away Wednesday April 7, 2021.

She was a caring Mother and Teacher for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur (56 years together); her brother James Stevenson, a sister, Bessie Mae Judge, and her mother, Bessie Mae Woodard Stevenson, and father, Rgustus Stevenson.

She is survived by her son, Sam Hyde and wife Lynette, of Enfield, NC, grandchildren, Mike Dickens and his wife Gail, and Lorrie Meeks and her husband Will, both families of Fancy Gap, VA; 4 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.

Annie was a true teacher. She started her teaching after graduating from ECTC (ECU) at 18 years old. She taught at Benvenue on her first assignment, met her husband Wilbur and moved to Roanoke Rapids where she taught at William R. Davie for 39 years. After retiring, she continued her teaching ways to all who knew her. She also loved music and flowers.

She received a Congressional Medal of Honor for her work with the Civil Air Patrol during the latter part of WWII.

The family will receive friends Friday, April, 9, 2021 from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Scotland Neck with Rev. Wanda Ogden officiating.
