He was born December 11th 1965 to parents John Winfield Miles Sr. and Kay Alsbrook Outland. Jay worked for Clayton Homes as a service technician for twenty three years.

He was a devoted husband and father but his greatest accomplishment in life was being a Pepaw.

Married for thirty three years Jay and Sharon had a love that most envied.

They have stayed side by side and best friends since the very first day. He was also a great friend and one heck of a fisherman.

No matter the situation, he always had a sense of humor and was always one to give someone a hug or help anyone in need.

Jay was a man you always wanted by your side, he wasn’t afraid of anything, even until the end.  If Jay wasn’t at work or spending time with family, he was fishing on the lake trying to catch the biggest fish.

Jay is survived by his wife Sharon Miles, son J.W. Miles, wife Paige Miles, and grandson Dawson Miles of Wendell, NC, father John Winfield Miles Sr., step mother Cathy Miles of Chester, Va. mother Kay Outland, step father Billy Outland of Roanoke Rapids, NC,  sisters Missy Slayton of Halifax, NC and Kristi Dully (Paul) of Richmond, Va.

For those that knew Jay he was unforgettable, he was a laugh when you needed it most, a helping hand when you couldn’t figure something out, but most of all he was an amazing husband, father, pepaw, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a hero to us all and will be missed by so many. Until we see you again Jay. We love you.

The Family will receive on Friday April 9th, 2021 from 6-8 at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral Home. Graveside Service for close family and friends at Cedarwood Cemetery, Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. and Rev. Dennis W. Gregory, Jr. officiating.
