Richard Powell Tanner, 88 of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 in ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.  

Mr. Tanner was born in Halifax County, the son of the late Grace B. Davis and Powell Vincent Tanner.  He was the widow of Mary Allen Tanner.

Surviving include his sons Powell “Pat” Tanner of Roanoke Rapids and Stephen Douglas Tanner (Jaime) of Lewiston, UT; his grandchildren, Samantha Taylor, Collin Taylor (Erin), Phillip Wheat, Stephanie Tanner, Stephen Tanner, Jr., and Rylie Tanner and his great grandchildren, Braylen Taylor, Jase Taylor, Judson Taylor, Maddie Patrick, and Aubree Barbrey.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Wrenn Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.   Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
