James Roy Jones III “Roy”, 69, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jones Silverstein and brother, Dennis Jones.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Clements Jones, children, Vic Jones, Brad Jones (Jennifer), Tammy Jones (A.J. Harrell), and Steven Jones, brother, Robin Jones of TX (Cindy), sister, Diane Jones Gravitt of VA, grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jones, Josh Jones, Zack Lamm, Jenna Jones, Caylee Jones and Natalee Jones, honorary daughter, Cassandra Gutierrez, faithful dog, Peanut, and best friends, Jerry McDaniel and James Bolton.
Roy would have celebrated 49 years of marriage this Saturday, August 12, 2023, to Deborah Jones.

His greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and papa.
He was a woodworker, carpenter, retired trucker driver, and a man with many skills.
Roy liked fishing, racing, and working on cars. He was a lifelong member of Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad where he helped the community.
Roy was like a second father to all the kids in the neighborhood growing up, he will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends at Wrenn Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be held at Wrenn Funeral Home on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
