The Community Action Team, also known as C.A.T., provides the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office with the ability to address quality of life issues, emerging crime trends and problem areas in the county.

C.A.T., will work directly with the drug agents to assist in the area with control buys, seizures and recovery of illegal narcotics, illegal guns and with search warrants when needed.

C.A.T., will work with the investigators to identify high crime areas and conduct saturated patrols in those areas.

C.A.T., will also assist the patrol units with traffic enforcement, checking stations, saturated patrols and those trespassing on farmland and private property during the different hunting seasons.

C.A.T., will assist the office with community events to educate those who attend on topics such as home safety, church safety, gang awareness and prevention, guns safety, employee recruitment events as well as other educational events.

C.A.T., will assist in forming and directing community watch programs.

C.A.T. allows the sheriff’s office to direct resources to a specific problem and location without diverting patrol deputies from responding to calls for service.

C.A.T will be utilized to work with local, state and federal agencies when requested.

The individuals selected for this team are highly motivated and have demonstrated a proactive approach to problem solving and preventing crime.

I have assigned Sergeant G. Martin and Sergeant D. Harrison to this team and the team will be directly supervised by Patrol Captain A. Cash.
