Over the past few years, something really special has come together at Emry Park.
What started as an idea and a lot of conversations turned into a real place for kids, families, and skaters to come together.
I want to publicly thank the Roanoke Rapids City Council, Roanoke Rapids Parks & Recreation, our sponsors, volunteers, local businesses, and the community as a whole for helping make this skatepark possible.
Projects like this don’t happen because of one person — they happen when a community decides something is worth building together.
To everyone who donated, shared posts, showed up to meetings, volunteered time, supported fundraisers, or simply believed this park could happen: Thank you.
The amount of support shown for skateboarding and for the youth in our area has been incredible to see.
The best part is watching the park actually get used the way we hoped it would — kids making friends, families hanging out, older skaters mentoring younger ones, and people having a positive place to be.
We’re excited to keep building that momentum with the upcoming Servpro Skate Jam at Emry Park on June 6th from 3 to 7 p.m.
We’ll have skating, giveaways, good vibes, and a chance for the community to come together and celebrate what’s been built here.
Thank you again to everyone who helped make Emry Park Skatepark a reality.
This belongs to the community, and we’re just getting started.
