This will be a spectacular show, sixteen artists and a killer band, according to Robert Smoot, the promoter behind Brencore Entertainment, referring to the upcoming Tribute to the Music of Motown.
When I attended the Luther Vandross Tribute Show, I was going with only a slight familiarity of his music. But I’m a strong supporter of the Live Music Scene and I wanted to support the shows at the Theatre.
As the show progressed, I was blown away by the professionalism and presentation of the show. Everything about the show was top notch, and I’m expecting no less from the Motown Show.
I remember growing up in the late ‘60’s and ‘70’s listening to WCBT AM radio that had a contemporary music format. So you got the most popular music of the day and in those days, some of the most popular music was the music coming out of Detroit, the Motor City, and Motown.
There was the music of the Temptations, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Marvelettes Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and The Supremes.
It’s the music we grew up with and will remember and enjoy again on March 31st at 8 p.m. at the Roanoke Rapids Theatre.
Included in the lineup of performers will be the Internationally recognized saxophonist and vocalist Jaared, nominated as ‘Best New Artist of the Year’ by the National Smooth Jazz Association in 2002. His first release, Foreward, included a remake of the Chante Moore’s, “Love’s Taken Over,” hit the charts in the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States. Jaared’s other releases include Hangtime, Addiction, and his latest, Manhattan Nights, which was recently nominated for three Grammy Awards. He is signed to Trippin‘N’ Rhythm Records, an international label associated with Sony/BMG.
Brencore Entertainment also has a strong music production presents in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area and has been providing events and performances at first class venues for over 5 years. They are now beginning to provide the same level of entertainment here at the Roanoke Rapids Theatre. We look forward to their success.
