The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Yellow Jackets boys and girls basketball teams opened thier 2018-19 season
at home in the HIVE with wins.
The Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Jackets Basketball season got off to a great start with the lady's team defeating Rocky Mount Prep 71 - 20.
The Jackets were led by Michelle Stewart and Anna Vann with 27 and 22 points with every player on the roster played in this contest. Abbi Carpenter added 8, Briana Parrott 6, Taylor Wade and Reauna Robinson with 4 each.
"Even though the season is young, the team played very well together on both ends of the court. We had an outstanding defensive night with 16 steals and 16 defensive rebounds" stated head hoach Jim Whitmyer.
This year's team has 15 players on roster and gives the depth at every position.
The Lady Jackets travel to Bertie Friday night in what has become a rivalry game. Bertie has had the better of the match up the past 2 years and the Jackets look to turn that around. Please come Bertie Friday and support the Lady Jackets as they march towards conference play.
The Roanoke Rapids boys beat Rocky Mount Prep. 74-62.
