Halifax Academy's Morgan Hudomint won the 1A State Championship as the Halifax Academy Cross Country teams competed at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, NC, on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

On this hot and humid October day, both teams ran well with the girls placing 4th overall and the boys finishing 6th overall.

Hudomint pulled away from the field during the first mile to stay and finished strong to take 1st place honors. Chloe Morris, Kate Forsht, Amber Markham, and Carolina Corum added to the Viking scoring.

Wesley Boerner led the way for the boys finishing 18th overall. Also, pacing the team were Nate Aston, Thad Harris, Jake Merritt, and Watkins Crew.

Lee Christian School won the team titles. Anthony of Christ Covenant School won the boys' race.

Congratulations to Halifax Academy as they wrapped up a strong season and as they celebrate a state champion.
