The North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association held its All State award ceremony Sunday afternoon at Cary High School. Among those recognized for 2A soccer was Catherine MacNichol, a sophomore at Roanoke Rapids High School.

Catherine led the lady jackets with 47 goals and 16 assists, earning a Northern Carolina Conference championship this spring. She was voted Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive year as well as First Team All Region for region 5 for the second year.

RRHS soccer coach Craig Jean, "Our program is very fortunate to have a player recognized at the All State level. To have an athlete receive this award is an honor, but receiving it as a Sophomore shows how much hard work and dedication she has given to the sport already.  Her future as a student/athlete/human being is very bright."
