The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings traveled to Virginia Friday and Saturday to play ball the Dinwiddie Virgina Tournament.

The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings had all cylinders firing on offense on Friday, winning big over Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity 17-3.

Halifax Academy fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hayden Barlow singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Halifax Academy notched six runs in the sixth inning. Lady Vikings batters contributing to the big inning included Barlow, Ashlyn Cooke, and Berkley Garner, all driving in runs in the inning.

Cooke pitched Halifax Academy to victory. The fireballer allowed five hits and three runs over six innings, striking out nine.

Halifax Academy scattered 14 hits in the game. Barlow, Garner, Morgan Hudomint, Cooke, and Ashton Knight each had multiple hits for the Lady Vikings. Garner and Barlow each managed three hits to lead Halifax Academy.

Halifax Academy didn't commit a single error in the field. Hudomint had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

 

An early lead helped Halifax Academy defeat Norfolk Academy Varsity Bulldogs 12-2 on Saturday.

Halifax Academy scored on a stolen base by Morgan Hudomint and a single by Ashton Knight in the first inning. After Norfolk Academy Varsity Bulldogs scored one run in the top of the fourth, Halifax answered with one of their own. Norfolk Academy Varsity Bulldogs scored when Lily Mersel grounded out, scoring one run. Halifax then answered when Alexus Roundtree doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Halifax Academy put up four runs in the sixth inning. The Lady Vikings scored its runs on an RBI double by Berkley Garner.

Garner pitched Halifax to victory. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Halifax Academy totaled 11 hits in the game. Garner, Ella Howell, Roundtree, and Ashlyn Cooke all had multiple hits for theLady Vikings. Cooke, Roundtree, Howell, and Garner all had two hits to lead Halifax Academy.

Halifax stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Hayden Hilton led the way with two.

Halifax Academy didn't commit a single error in the field. Cooke had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

 

Halifax Academy Lady Vikings fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 14-1 loss to Kenston Forest KAVALIERS on Saturday.

Kenston Forest KAVALIERS scored on a double by Caroline Bayne, an passed ball during Kieren McHugh's at bat, a double by Aubrey Mayton, a double by Kirsie Jackson, a groundout by Kristin Sheffield, and a double by Mackenzie Newcomb in the first inning.

The Lady Vikings struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Kenston Forest giving up 14 runs.

Ashlyn Cooke took the loss for Halifax Academy. Cooke surrendered 14 runs on 14 hits over four innings, striking out one.

Berkley Garner went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Halifax in hits.

 

Halifax Academy Lady Vikings overall season record is 7-4 and host Faith Christian Tuesday March 22 at 5PM.
