The Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets softball team lost a heartbreaker last Thursday and home on Senior night and rebounded Tuesday on the road with a win to close their regular season play.

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 10-9 defeat to Nash Central on Thursdayat home.

Roanoke Rapids scored four runs in the failed comeback. Meredith Wilson, Sue Odom, Logan Storey, and Alexia Coley each picked up RBIs.

Roanoke Rapids was right in it until Nash Central singled in the fifth inning. The LadyYellow Jackets opened up scoring in the first inning, when Karlee Hammack doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Roanoke Rapids scored four runs in the fourth inning. Lauren Garner and Kalissa Williams each drove in runs during the inning.

Williams was in the pitcher's circle for Roanoke Rapids. Williams allowed eight hits and nine runs over four innings, striking out three. Storey threw three innings in relief.

Roanoke Rapids socked one home run on the day. Williams went deep in the fourth inning. Roanoke Rapids racked up 12 hits in the game. Williams and Hammack each collected multiple hits for the Lady Yellow Jackets. Hammack and Williams each collected three hits to lead Roanoke Rapids.

Nash Central tallied 11 hits on the day.

 

The Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets clinches lead in seventh Inning to defeat Bunn.

Roanoke Rapids stole the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Bunn on Friday.

The game was tied at four with the Lady Yellow Jackets batting in the top of the seventh when Kaysie Summerlin singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Bunn scored four runs in the third inning, but Roanoke Rapids still managed to pull out the victory.

Bunn scored its runs on a grand slam. In the first inning, Roanoke Rapids got their offense started. The Yellow Jackets scored one run when Sue Odom doubled.

 

The Lady Jackets finished the regular season with a 15-2 overall record and a are co-conference Big East Champions with 3A Southern Nash a 12-2 record and Champions of the 2A teams of the conference.

 

Roanoke Rapids will host Louisburg Monday May 2nd at 7pm in the 1st round of the Big East Conference tournament.
