RRPD seeks information on safe theft

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating the theft of a 600-pound safe stolen from an East Tenth Street business in June.

The city said in a statement today council was briefed in closed session Tuesday evening on the progress being made on Roanoke Rapids Theatre negotiations.

Roanoke Rapids will play host next year to the U-9 Cal Ripken Southeast Tournament at Ledgerwood Field.

Council gives green light to solar farm

Plans for a 70-acre solar farm on American Legion were granted this evening by Roanoke Rapids City Council.

With projections for the current fiscal year showing the possibility of coming in or under the forecasted budget, Roanoke Rapids City Council is hopeful it can give back some of the money cut from departments during the crafting of the financial plan.
