Trooper R.P. Dennis of the state Highway Patrol said he expects Walter Scott Tyler of Knightdale to surrender to authorities sometime Wednesday.
Dennis filed initial charges last week of DWI, open container, careless and reckless driving and running a stop sign in the death of Chavis Monchell Avent, 22.
The wreck occurred July 27 at the intersection of Highway 903 and Aurelian Springs Road near Reser's Fine Foods.
