Roanoke Rapids police continue to investigate a robbery that occurred around 4:30 this morning at Presto on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Chief Chuck Hasty said Officer Jamie Hardy and B-Squad officers responded and learned a man entered the store, brandished a gun and demanded money.

The clerk complied and the man, described as having light skin, fled the store.

Sergeant Daniel Jenkins and his dog Pocock tracked to a wooded area off Hinson Street.

The man stood approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighed between 140 to 150 pounds.

He wore a purple hooded jacket or sweatshirt and gray pants.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search.
