The state Highway Patrol said this evening it is unable to determine exactly why a woman reported missing last week crashed her vehicle in the Gaston area of Northampton County.

Trooper K.S. Rizzuto said investigation shows Vicki Brewer Wright, 64, of Henrico, who was found deceased earlier this evening, traveled straight through a curve on Highway 46 near Cal Floyd Road and went off the right side of the road. He said the vehicle collided with a tree and rolled over.

It's not clear whether the impact of collision caused her death.

Rizzuto said investigation shows the wreck may have occurred on September 10, the last day she was seen. “There was video of her at one of the area shopping centers and she was wearing the same clothes (described in a Silver Alert).”

The trooper said a passing crop duster pilot noticed the car in a ditch estimated to be at least 8- to 10-feet deep. The tires of her vehicle were between 38- to 39-feet from the edge of the road. “It was so far down the average car could not have seen it,” Rizzuto said.
