A Weldon man thought to be responsible for 11 known break-ins from Halifax to Enfield is being sought by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Detective D.C. Dickens said Winston Deontae Hendricks, 25, was charged in June by Sergeant D. Coley for the breaking and entering of the Enfield Tire Center and soon after posting bond began another spree of break-ins.

Dickens said several thousand dollars worth of items, ranging from household items to lawn mowers and gaming systems to money, has been stolen in the crime spree.

A 17-year-old Dickens described as Hendricks's accomplice, Jiel Devon Artis, of Goldsboro, is in custody in Wayne County.

The crime spree stems from break-ins reported from May through September of this year. He and Artis face several counts of breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; possession of stolen goods; possession of a stolen dog; possession of a stolen firearm; attempted breaking and entering and damage to personal property.

The dog stolen was returned to its owner, Dickens said.

Hendricks is known to frequent the Enfield area as well as the Roanoke-Chowan Housing Authority apartments in Weldon.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201, Dickens at 252-593-1002 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
