A man who came to the Weldon Police Department Tuesday for questioning in a matter which is still under investigation was found to be in possession of five baggies of powdered cocaine and a concealed weapon.

The cocaine and weapon were discovered when investigators learned Raheem Diesha Ausby, 18, had outstanding warrants for assault by pointing a gun, second-degree trespassing and communicating threats.

Deputy Chief James Avens said a search related to the arrest on the outstanding warrants yielded the cocaine, roughly 2 grams, and the handgun, which led to charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.

Avens said the weapon was not reported as stolen but a federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives trace will be done to locate the origin of sale and to determine whether the 9mm high point gun found in his pocket was stolen.

Ausby received a $4,000 secured bond and November 18 court date.

Avens said it was not clear whether the cocaine was for personal use or for sale.
